MixEmergency Tutorial: Basics & Fundamentals Part 2

This two-part MixEmergency tutorial is an overview of all its fundamental features to help you get started mixing visuals with this Video DJ software.

Part 2 covers Overlays, MIDI, Display controls and Serato DJ integration.

Users will gain an understanding of how to load and mix visuals, creating presets for access to frequently used settings, integration and audio/video linking with Serato DJ, customizing effects and transitions, MIDI mapping to hardware controllers and interfaces, adding built-in overlays to video mixes, and using display settings to show full screen video on secondary and primary displays.

This tutorial was created using MixEmergency Version 2.6.0.

Free Visual Set “Sectionulls”

This set contains 3 seamless loops consisting of 3D polygons shapes that break up and rejoin in various ways. These objects are perfect for layering on top of soft backgrounds or for any composition that needs some extra movement. Try tiling and mirroring multiple copies for some extra flavor.

Resolume Tutorial: BPM Sync & Techniques

This Resolume tutorial for Arena 4 & 5 and Avenue 4 is an overview of BPM Sync and shows you how to find BPM for any music or audio track.

The following BPM Sync techniques are covered: randomizing playback of a video clip, activating and using BeatLoopr, linking BPM Sync to effects parameters.

Resolume Tutorial: Creating Audio Reactive Effects

This Resolume tutorial for Arena 4 & 5 and Avenue 4 explains how to make effects respond to any audio source by using Resolume’s built-in Audio FFT functionality. Make visuals more compelling by adding extra motion that changes effect parameters dynamically and alters the look of any visual. Synchronize video clips to the beat without having match clips to BPM.

All Audio FFT controls are examined in depth. Additional tips and recommendations are discussed to help users breathe new life into visuals and fine tune the link between audio and video.

Live Visuals Session // 041004

2-layers of live visuals set to respond audioreactively. Various effects applied to the head layer to change its appearance. A ripple effect was set to react to low audio frequencies. For the background layer, the hue was adjusted and opacity levels were synchronized to high frequencies in the audio. Originally posted on Instagram.

Live EDM audiovisual DJ mix using the Serato Video plugin for Serato DJ. Visuals created by DocOptic.

This mix was performed live with no rehearsal. All visuals contained Presets with Audioreactive FX and were “Associated” to each music track in Serato DJ. DJ Kutz performed all DJ and VJ tasks live, manually triggering linked audio + video FX.
